Roger Connor played parts of 10 different seasons with the New York Giants from 1883 through 1894 during his Hall of Fame career. His best season was probably 1885, when he led the league with 169 hits and a .371 batting average (both career highs). He also led the league with a .435 OBP and 225 total bases in 110 games. This example depicts the First Baseman with his hands on his knees, as he directly faces the camera and stares right down its barrel.

Centering is gorgeous, corners are somewhat rounded, with edge chipping on the bottom and ride sides, in particular. Some faint surface stains toward the top of the background do not affect Connor's image, but the print has begun to fade, leaving the contrast harder to see than when the card was originally produced. An 1886/87 example from the early "script series" of N172s, which lends some added desirability to the card.
