William Crossley played a combined 28 games for the Milwaukee Brewers/Creams in 1888 and 1889. He was primarily a Catcher, but did make a couple appearances in Right Field, as well. One of five poses of Crossley in the issue, this one depicts the catcher with his hands waist high ready to catch a ball coming his way.
Centering
is just slightly east on the canvas, but the image is heavy on the left side so it's hard to notice. Contrast is above average for the issue; the text at the bottom of the card is clear and legible.
The corners and edges are sharp. If it weren't for a blip near the top left corner and a minor bit of edge chipping near the top right edge, this card would have graded even higher than it already has. Some light staining on the back does not affect the eye appeal of the front. The highest-graded of the two examples of this pose to have been assessed by PSA.
