Jim Conway pitched in 41 games for the 1889 Kansas City Cowboys of the American Association, going 19-19 in 37 starts that year. Connor has five different poses in
the N172 set. This example - which depicts the pitcher leaning on a bat with his right hand, while his left hand sits at his side - is the only one to have been graded by PSA.
Centering
is just slightly east on the canvas, though with some cards in this set it is hard to tell since the printed borders, themselves, are not perfectly straight or level. This card is one of those instances, with the top printed border running parallel to the top cut of the card, but the rest of the card's image seemingly running slightly diagonally from the top right corner to the bottom left corner of the canvas. This is especially perceptible when viewing the text at the bottom of the card. Nevertheless, this one is a beauty, with a stunningly stoic portrait of Conway staring off into the distance. A tougher card featuring a desirable Kansas City player, a sharp example with EX+ eye appeal despite the lower technical grade, a result of scrapbook damage on the reverse.
