Taken from a 13-"card" set of sepia-toned portraits produced by The Sporting News in 1926 and 1927, these 7x10 photos featured the player image with a large white border on all four sides. While some of the M101-7s contained ads for The Sporting News on the reverse, the majority were blank-backed. Printed on extremely flimsy newsprint paper, these supplements are susceptible to all manner of wear and damage.

This example, which was originally distributed on January 6th, 1927, and features New York Yankees great Tony Lazzeri during his rookie season, retains its original form with sharp corners and a clean surface. While the edges and corners seem much nicer than the grade or Poor 1 assigned by PSA, there does appear to be a slight tear near the bottom left corner, and another about an inch up the right side, as well. Some waviness in the paper on the right edge and a touch of soiling near the Sporting News logo in the top left corner seem to be the only other condition issues of note. However, the scarcity of this issue far outweighs any perceived cosmetic flaws on this example.

PSA has only ever graded 1 example of this 1927 M101-7 Sporting News Supplement of Hall of Famer Tony Lazzeri.
