A Hall of Fame infielder who played 18 National League seasons beginning with the Troy Haymakers in 1880, Connor was a power hitter in a league that didn't have many, the game's all-time home run leader before the record was broken by some guy named Ruth. He was with the Giants from 1883 until 1891, with this pose in the N172 issue designated as 88-4 and also known as the "script name" for obvious reasons.  PSA has given the card a grade of GOOD 2, though virtually all the condition flaws are restricted to the card back, which exhibits damage from scrapbook mounting.  As is often the case, however, the scrapbook has protected the card well, the clean image boasting exceptional contrast, with strong detail (one can see the rings in Connor's bat as well as the wrinkles in his uniform).  A truly exceptional early example from the 1886/87 "script" series.
