Owner of an 11-year major league career, Walter Hooke batted .287 lifetime with the Giants, Braves, Phillies and Cubs.  His finest season was probably 1923, when he batted .311 with 70 RBI with Boston, but he was a fairly consistent player between 1919 and 1924, always batting around .300 with 60-70 RBI.

This attractive pre-model bat (manufactured before Hillerich & Bradsby assigned model numbers to bats) is 33 1/2" in length, weighing in at 44.4 ounces.  Manufactured between 1916 and 1918, the bat is untracked, with checking on the front and back barrel having been repaired with nails.  The bat displays many ball marks on all sides of the barrel, an outstanding example of a game-used deadball era bat.  The technical grade assigned by PSA/DNA is 6.5, primarily due to the repairs.
