Ossee Freeman Schreckengost's first name is sometimes spelled "Ossie" and his last name is sometimes shortened to "Schreck" - as it is here - to suit the limited space in baseball box scores. The longtime backup catcher is depicted in front of a solid blue background in this portrait. This example has tremendous eye appeal, with great centering, sharp borders, and nice corners. While there is some extremely faint tobacco staining along the borders, the card's technical grade is mostly explained by the Piedmont back, which is centered to the west of the canvas and has a couple ink smudges. The front, however, presents incredibly nicely.
