Hunky Shaw got one at bat in his Major League career. He pinch hit in a 1908 game for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Shaw struck out, and never stepped foot on a Major League diamond again. Here, the 24-year-old utility man is depicted as a member of the Providence Grays of the Eastern League, for whom he only played 30 games in 1909. The orange background provides some brightness to the card, which fittingly features Shaw in his gray Grays uniform. The upper right corner has some imperfections, but the other three are very nice and the edges are sharp. Centering is just ever so slightly west on the canvas, and the Piedmont back is bold and clean, save for a couple small stains and smudges.
