Classic original Charles Conlon photograph depicting 1925 Cardinals shortstop, Les Bell. 6.5" x 8.5" masterwork remains wonderfully composed with near-perfect contrast and fabulous use of texture throughout. In the foreground Bell is proudly displaying his "Golden Jubilee" patch adorning the left sleeve. A patch worn by all NL clubs in 1925 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the National League. Despite the top-right corner having chipped away photo remains a phenomenal portrait well worthy of addition to the finest aggregations of Conlon's material. Verso remains largely clean aside from Conlon's personal Baseball Magazine credit stamping above his handwritten notations. A date stamp of July 16, 1927 also appears.
