In 1957 Sandy Koufax was a mediocre pitcher entering his third professional season. At that time Koufax was still years away from posting the most dominant stretch of seasons in the modern era; the period from 1961 through 1966 would vault Koufax into the Hall of Fame winning him three Cy Young awards and an MVP posting 20 wins three seasons in a row striking out 300 batters or more in three different seasons and essentially dominating the National League like no other pitcher in his generation. Today Koufax remains a baseball legend retiring at 30 years old due to arm trouble but still providing guidance and class to a new generation of Dodgers. This example graded EX 60 by SGC is a solid mid grade specimen with an attractive image and wear consistent with the grade.
