Zeke Bonura was hard-hitting first baseman over seven major league seasons spent with four teams and 1939 found him with the Giants in the Play Ball set. A PSA/DNA Authentic grade is given for a blue ballpoint autograph with some character. Some pen lift is seen but it's a strong signature overall as it rolls off to the west. The card is PSA Authentic, with scrapbook remnants adhering to the reverse, along with associated paper loss. Bonura's 1978 passing means he missed the autograph boom, and as a result his signature is difficult on cards. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
