Earl Averill, the star Centerfielder for the Indians, Tigers and Braves over thirteen seasons, was enshrined in Cooperstown in 1975 thanks to a powerful bat and friends in high places.  He's signed a fairly nice PSA 3.5 1939 Play Ball card in dark black, his effortless signature running low across his chest. It's a beauty and PSA/DNA clearly agrees, with a grade of MINT 9 given. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
