A high-average, low-power First Baseman for seven big league seasons, Buddy Hassett was Manhattan-born and ended up with two of the three metro area times during his career, missing only the Giants for the trifecta.  He's depicted on his 1939 Play Ball with the Braves, during a three year sojourn from the Big Apple, with a signature inscribed in blue ink that has run a little bit, likely due to the ink not quite being dry before it was originally handled. PSA/DNA Authentic is the grade here.  Some paper loss on the reverse as is common with these cards, the result of scrapbook removal. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
