One of the most popular players of his era and one of the most widely-collected 19th Century players today, Hall of Famer Buck Ewing is pictured here, posing as if about to throw a ball (inside a photography studio). Freshly graded PR 1 by PSA, the most visible condition flaws relate to the reverse, which exhibit some adhesive stains, overall soiling and what looks to be some remnants of clear tape. While foxing, mild staining and age-related edge and corner wear are evident on the front, the real selling point with this card is in the image contrast and clarity, which, overall, is quite strong. One of the less frequently-seen of Ewing's 11 Old Judge poses, an exceptional card of an important Hall of Famer. It should be noted that this very card is the exemplar pictured in the book The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin and Company (1886-1890).
