Yet another example of how N172 Old Judge cards suffer by the standards of today's third-party grading system, this attractive card of Hall of Famer Hugh Duffy boasts the eye appeal of a midgrade card. Boasting a clean image with better than average contrast, square corners and an overall clean surface, the reverse exhibits back damage related to adhesive from scrapbook mounting, as well as a bit of paper loss. That same scrapbook mounting likely preserved the card, reducing its exposure to light and elements that might detract from its condition over time. The result is a beautiful midgrade card with visible damage to the otherwise blank back reducing the numerical grade.
