Uhlman studios cabinet photo proof of Minneapolis Millers first baseman Milton "Buck" West. Posed awkwardly with a ring-style bat, West compiled a .245 lifetime batting average across parts of two major league seasons, but did enjoy some time with the 1890 Cleveland Spiders, perhaps sharing the field with the rookie Cy Young. The cabinet does exhibit some wear, in the form of soiling, with a heavy surface abrasion far outside the image area. Staining is apparent on the reverse. The image here corresponds with card #490-1 in the N172 Old Judge Cigarettes issue.
