Spectacular cabinet photo of Bill Krieg, utilityman for the Washington Nationals and Minneapolis Millers in 1887. Though the Gray studios was down to take photos for Goodwin & Co. for the Philadelphia and Indianapolis teams, Krieg spent time with neither, moving from Minneapolis to Kansas City and finally St. Joseph between 1887 and 1889. Still, he appeared in ten different poses in the N172 issue, this one catalogued as #269-2. A beautiful image, well-protected by its mount over the years, with little fading and wear apparent. The mount itself does exhibit some foxing and wear at the edges, and some moderate staining on the reverse, but the image itself is clear and dynamic.
