Dynamic pair of original news service photos depicting two of New York's finest shortstops of the 1940's. Both photos measure approximately 7" x 9" and include full paper captions still affixed to verso along with credit stamping identifying the issuing service. Included: 1) 1941 Acme Newspictures image of Brooklyn's beloved shortstop Pee Wee Reese getting his man at second base following a sac bunt attempt. Image is out of focus, very likely due to fast action of the play. Small areas of paper loss are apparent at both the top and bottom borders, covered with clear tape. 2) 1947 Acme Newspictures shot of Yankees great Phil Rizzuto turning a double play. A fantastic image of Rizzuto in mid-air as he avoids the slide fires to first. Gentle creasing throughout, though only apparent when held at an extreme angle. Two photos total.
