Original photograph from Game 4 of the 1916 World Series pitting the National League champion Brooklyn Robins against the American League champion Boston Red Sox. This image has been captured from a high angle at Ebbet's Field as Boston's Larry Gardner crosses home plate following his inside the park home run in the second inning. Catcher Chief Meyers of Brooklyn looks on while Boston's batboy in a classic wool sweater from the era collects equipment in the lower-right corner. Wear to all four corners of the photo is apparent in the form of heavy chipping and light creasing, with scattered smudging and clear tape over a small tear on verso. Verso also displays large International Film Service credit stamping with handwritten notations in ballpoint towards the right edge. Remnants of a paper caption remain affixed at the bottom edge. Guaranteed Type 1.
