Outstanding 5.75" x 7.25" souvenir photo album known to have been presented to Boston Red Sox players in 1917. This album was assembled by the Draper & Maynard Co. following a visit by Babe Ruth and teammates to D&M's factory in Plymouth, NH following their 1916 World Series championship. Upon arrival in the White Mountains Sox players were offered a key to the city and enjoyed activities in and around Plymouth, including a tour of the factory itself that produced equipment endorsed by the Red Sox from 1915-1920. The team's visit was documented in a series of photographs presented to individual players in the form of albums such as this one, two of which have found their way into the hobby in recent years. Many of the photographs once found within these albums depict a youthful Babe Ruth and four of those photos can be found elsewhere in this auction, offered individually (all of which have achieved Type 1 status). The presented album still contains 10 photographs measuring 4" x 5" or smaller affixed to the black album pages but several pages have obviously been carefully trimmed away. Players easily identifiable in the album include: Jack Barry, Dick Hoblitzell, and Pinch Thomas. Moderate wear is present to cover and despite removal of several pages this remains a truly wonderful remembrance of the historic visit to Draper & Maynard by the Red Sox in 1916.
