Fantastic 4" x 5" photograph depicting members of the Boston Red Sox during a celebratory visit to Plymouth, NH. Babe Ruth and teammates had been invited to Draper & Maynard Co.'s factory in the White Mountains following their 1916 World Series championship and were presented with a key to the city upon arrival. During their stay the team enjoyed several activities in and around Plymouth while touring the factory that produced equipment endorsed by the Red Sox from 1915-1920. The team's visit was documented in a series of photographs later presented to individual players in the form of albums, several of which have found their way into the hobby in recent years. This photograph and three others offered within this auction, all depicting a youthful Babe Ruth, originate from those very albums. Photo remains in beautiful overall condition with three vertical pencil marks in the upper half of the photo. An attractive remembrance of the Red Sox historic 1916 visit with Ruth clearly visible under the steepled building in background. Jack Barry, Tillie Walker, and Pinch Thomas (in catchers gear) are also easily identifiable as the players standing to the far right. As an added bonus, several of the players are sporting the wonderful heavy sweaters once worn by Red Sox teams of the Deadball Era. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
