Original 3.5" x 5" Type 1 photograph depicting members of the Boston Red Sox greeting fans outside of the D&M factory entrance in Plymouth, NH. Ruth and teammates had been invited to Draper & Maynard Co.'s factory in the White Mountains following their 1916 World Series championship and were presented with a key to the city upon arrival. During their stay the team enjoyed several activities in and around Plymouth while touring the factory itself that produced equipment endorsed by the Red Sox from 1915-1920. The team's visit was documented in a series of photographs later presented to individual players in the form of albums, several of which have found their way into the hobby in recent years. This photograph and three others offered within this auction, all including a youthful Babe Ruth, originate from those very albums. Photo has survived in pristine overall condition with Ruth clearly visible in cold weather gear at the extreme right of this image. Verso remains blank. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
