Undoubtedly a second generation photo, this 1960's-era example features a rare 1909-12 image of pitching great Chief Bender following through on his delivery. Visible discoloration is present to surface of the approx. 7.5" x 7.5" photo with heavy toning and a strip of paper loss on verso. This image can be found utilized for several TCMA card issues of the 1980's including the 1983 TCMA All-Time Athletics set (shown for illustration purposes only). Decades later it was later used as the source image for Bender's card in the 2002 Fleer Fall Classic set. A fresh-to-the-hobby example originating from the Photo File archive where it has remained for several decades until the time of this sale. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 4 photo by PSA/DNA.
