Here is a well-preserved 32-page “Base Ball” catalog from the A.J. Reach Co. presenting the company’s 1913 line of equipment with Philadelphia A’s pitcher Chief Bender illustrated on the front cover and Detroit Tigers right fielder Sam Crawford on the reverse. Measuring 4" x 8", its interior pages feature a variety of baseball images amidst equipment illustrations (gloves, bats and catcher’s gear) and descriptions including a host of popular players from the era. Hall of Famers pictured inside include Rube Marquard, Christy Mathewson, Eddie Plank, Johnny Evers, Joe Tinker, Home Run Baker, Eddie Collins, Harry Hooper, Tris Speaker, Honus Wagner, Nap Lajoie, Walter Johnson, Sam Crawford, and Ed Walsh, along with future Black Sox players Joe Jackson and Chick Gandil. The front cover shows some wear and aged discoloration, with interior pages faring slightly better. This is a beautiful equipment guide from a bygone era.
