Frank “Home Run” Baker was a steady third baseman who played 13 seasons in the big leagues and earned his nickname by virtue of a couple of well-timed home runs in the 1911 World Series. His clouts helped the Philadelphia A’s win the Fall Classic over the New York Giants, four games to two. Offered here is a circa 1917 Frank Baker J.F. Hillerich & Son Louisville Slugger (Model 40 F.B.) full size decal bat. This particular model, complete with its colorful but well worn Frank Baker decal with criss-crossed bats on the barrel, was issued to U.S. troops for use during World War I and shows considerable wear with ball marks scattered throughout. Full-size examples like this are especially desirable among vintage collectors. The wooden bat, which is uncracked, measures 32 1/2" in length, a veritable club at almost 42 ounces.
