In addition to his pitching prowess, CY Young was an avid outdoorsman and he's depicted here on his mount "Hunter" about to ride in what was the Seventh Annual Tri-State Fox Hunt in October of 1908, after coming off a 21-11 season for the Red Sox at the age of 41. Covering portions of Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, the hunt was a major event that was covered by many publications of the day. Young is seen here in full hunting regalia, wearing a cap and gloves but not of any sort seen on the diamond. There is superb color seen on the obverse, which does have some wear, primarily around some corner areas. The reverse has been inscribed and is postally used, mailed on September 25, 1909. Printed in Germany and merchandised by The Hugh C. Leighton Company of Portland, Maine this PC presents a fascinating look at a whole different side of the legendry pitcher.
