Catalogued as pose #25-4 in The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company, Hall of Fame first baseman Jake Beckley is portrayed with the St. Louis Whites of the Western Association, where he played just 38 games in 1888 before being promoted to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys.  Owner of a .308 lifetime batting average across 20 major league seasons, Beckley finished with more than 2,900 lifetime hits, playing in the majors until he was nearly 40 years old. Freshly graded FR 1.5 by PSA, the card boasts a clear image with reasonably strong contrast for the issue, well-centered with square corners.  A light crease is visible down the center, but staining on the reverse is largely responsible for the technical grade.
