Five members of the Chicago White Sox, including four implicated in the infamous 1919 "Black Sox" scandal, stand for photographers in this 7.25" x 9.5" original Type 1 photo. From L to R the players depicted include: SS Swede Risberg, Hall of Fame 2B Eddie Collins (who did not participate in the fix), backup 3B Fred McMullin, starting 3B Buck Weaver, and 1B Chick Gandil. This is a rare look at these men in full uniform on the field at Comiskey Park, and though an exact date is unknown, the image was unquestionably shot sometime between 1917 and 1919. A portion of the lower-right corner has fallen away, otherwise the borderless photo presents handsomely with crisp focus and detailing.
