In 1928, the New York Yankees returned to their third straight World Series and locked down their second straight sweep, this time disposing of the St. Louis Cardinals in four games. Once again Babe Ruth (.625 BA, four RBI) and Lou Gehrig (.545, nine RBI) provided the one-two punch New York needed to prevail. This lot features a genuine 1928 World Series program with both team managers taking center stage on the cover via portrait pics: Miller Huggins (NY) and Bill McKechnie (STL). The cover included a decorative trim. The program measures approximately 9 1/4" x 11" and includes lineup cards of both teams as well as pages devoted to portrait pics of both clubs. Though there is some toning on the cover due to age, the overall souvenir program remains in good condition. Original price: 25 cents
