In 1923, the New York Yankees won their first World Series title by defeating the New York Giants in a best-of-seven series, four games to two. Led by Manager Miller Huggins, the 98-54 Yankees handled the best competition Giants Manager John McGraw could throw at them. Babe Ruth led the Yankees offense in the series by batting .368 (7-for-19) with three home runs. This lot features an actual 1923 World Series program with both managers taking center stage on the cover. Produced by Harry M. Stevens, Publisher, the program measures 9.25" wide by 11" high and includes lineup cards of both teams. Noticeable creasing, toning and some stains appear on the cover and inside pages, P-F condition in general. Original price: 25 cents.
