On July 18, 1921, the host Brooklyn Robins were soundly defeated, 8-1, by the visiting Chicago Cubs at Ebbets Field. The game, played before 2,0000 spectators, lasted just one hour and 40 minutes long. Featured here is a “Ebbets Field Official Score Card” from that game, filled in completely with each at-bat’s results. Cubs righthander Elmer Ponder got the win, while Brooklyn southpaw Dutch Ruether took the loss. The scorecard booklet measures approximately 6" x 9" and is filled with vintage advertisements marking the period, most noticeably tobacco products like Chesterfield Cigarettes and Between the Acts (Mile Havana Blend) Little Cigars. Overall condition is good with two Saddle Stitched staples still in place. Original price: five cents.
