Billikens were designed as premiums for a brand of cigars in 1923-24, during a short, active period of Cuban card issues. This is actually a "La Moda", which is an alternate brand of cigars and significantly harder to track down than the comparable Billikens (all 60 subjects were issued with both brands). A bit of a mystery man, Eufemio Abreu was a Cuban who played in the Winter and Negro Leagues until 1925 then disappeared from sight.  The card, AGC Authentic has, as seen, has suffered greatly over the past century with but two in the SGC pop report (and none at PSA), we are proud to offer both examples in this auction.
