Prominent sports artist Dick Perez, now 83 years of age, is known for his realistic paintings for the Baseball Hall of Fame as well as the Philadelphia Phillies. This lot features a gorgeous original painting on canvas by Perez of Baltimore Orioles pitching great Jim Palmer, who was inducted into Cooperstown in 1990. The framed painting, which measures approx. 30" wide by 25" high (much larger than Perez' typical pieces), shows the right-handed Palmer in full windup with a fastball to home plate looming. The magnificent piece captures Palmer’s sky blue eyes as well as the determination in his delivery as his arms almost appear distorted as No. 22 goes all out in his effort to notch yet another strike. A tremendous work from one of the hobby's most renowned artists.
