Original 7" x 9" Type 1 photograph from Babe Ruth's 12-week fall tour of the Northwest in 1926. Stops on Ruth's tour included Duluth, MN, Fargo, ND, Seattle, WA, Tacoma, WA, Portland, OR, and Eugene, OR. We believe this image to have been captured in Portland, OR as research indicates the photographer Earnest Ellis (based in Eugene) traveled to Portland and photographed Ruth there during the tour. Significantly, a "Kennel-Ellis" credit is displayed towards the lower-right corner of the photo attributing the image to Earnest Ellis' operation. A few days later, Ruth reportedly performed in a vaudeville production at the brand new Capital Theater in Salem, OR on both Dec. 20th and 21st. Holes, presumably from being tacked to a flat surface, are present to all four corners of this photo with heavy creasing to the lower-left corner. Verso displays adhesive residue and remnants of black paper still affixed, indicating this example was likely removed from a scrapbook or mount. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
