Lot Description  

Original 1926 Type 1 news service photo depicting Yale baseball coach and former major league star, Smoky Joe Wood. Wood is snappily dressed as he poses for a photographer, presumably on the Yale campus in New Haven, CT. Some abrasion is present to the upper-right corner of this photo and some typical waviness appears towards the left edge. Verso displays Central Press Association stamping and an interesting, lengthy paper caption related to accusations made against Wood regarding betting on baseball. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
