A fearsome slugger, Hank Greenburg's 1941 Play Ball card caught him during the same season he ended up playing for Uncle Sam, as he was inducted into the Army on May 8th. Discharged at the tail end of the same year, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps the day after Pearl Harbor and didn't see the inside of a major league ballpark again until 1945. Displaying a pleasing yellow-green background, this is a fabulous PSA 6 example of the original Hammerin' Hank, with centering pushed a little to the bottom of the card. The reverse's text was struck strong and bold.
