Dizzy Trout played 14 seasons in the majors, almost entirely with Detroit, having his best seasons during the WWII years when he was classified 4-F due to hearing impairment. Trout became a Tigers play-by-play man after retirement, making an unsuccessful comeback attempt at 42 years old in 1957. His son was the pitcher Steve Trout, who played for the Cubs, White Sox, Yankees and Mariners in the late 1970s and 1980s.
Trout passed away at the young age of 56, way back in 1972, and as a result, cards bearing his signature are particularly scarce. Just ten signed examples of 1952 Topps Trout cards are counted on PSA's population report. This signature is a bit faded, the blue ballpoint applied just above Trout's facsimile signature. Encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA.
