Tremendous handwritten letter from Honus Wagner to a friend, dated June 6, 1933 and written on the letterhead of a chain of Chicago hotels (the Pirates were in the midst of a series with the Cubs at that time).  The Flying Dutchman thanks his friend for a recent fishing trip, and declines an offer for another, stating "as you know we have a battle on our hands and we need the full force on duty."  At the time, Pittsburgh was just two games out, though they would finish the season five games behind the Giants, in second place.  The letter is clear and legible, written in fountain pen and signed with an elegant "J. Honus Wagner."  The stationery does exhibit some uneven toning, likely the result of being stored folded at some point.  It has been matted and framed in an elegant display alongside a print of a well-known photo of Wagner, professionally matted and framed to a finished size of 23" x 16".  Though the frame prevents us from examining the edges or reverse of the letter, the presentation is wonderful.
