Beautiful 1921 letter from Pittsburgh president and future Hall of Famer Barney Dreyfuss, to 25-year-old Bill Skiff.  Skiff would be a baseball lifer, but in 1921 was released by Pittsburgh, to the Kansas City Blues of the American Association, where he would play for three seasons.  Skiff had a brief Major League playing career but went on to play 19 years in the minors, then managed for 14 seasons before becoming a scout.

This letter from Dreyfuss is to inform Skiff of his release from Pittsburgh, and to wish him success going forward.  Printed on Pittsburgh Athletic Company letterhead, the letter is typewritten in blue, with Dreyfuss' beautiful signature in black steel tip fountain pen bold and legible, with very light ink at the beginning of the "B."  The letter itself exhibits century-old folds, with some minor paper wear and tear as a result, but has survived well as a part of Skiff's personal memorabilia collection, which has been consigned to Love of the Game and will be featured in our next several auctions.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
