Interesting letter from future Hall of Famer Tommy Connolly to Bill Skiff, then the manager of the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League. Skiff managed in Seattle for six seasons, in 1941 managing the Rainiers to a 104-70 first place record. The letter, on American League stationery, acknowledges what appears to have been a back-and-forth exchange of letters, perhaps dealing with some sort of umpiring issue (Connolly was Umpire-in-Chief from 1931 through 1954). He was one of the first two umpires inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The letter appears in VG-EX condition, with some light wear at the edges, and two folds from being stored in an envelope for many years. Connolly's signature appears in steel-tip fountain pen, a clean, black and authoritative autograph. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
