Topps famously used paintings for their 1953 set and the look and feel is quite different than seen the previous year, with a style that resembled artistic miniatures.  Eddie Mathews still coming on in 1953 after a nice rookie campaign the year prior and would sock 47 home runs in '53, leading the National League.  He added 135 RBI and would play in the first of his twelve All Star Games and was starting along the path to Cooperstown.  The card itself is bright, with rounded corners. He's signed here as "Ed" and the signature, in blue, has been authenticated by PSA/DNA.
