Beautiful Max Stein postcard featuring "Black Sox" shortstop Buck Weaver. This rare issue was produced between 1909 and 1915 by the Max Stein Company of Chicago and featured many types of subjects (actors boxers etc) including 25 baseball images that are highly coveted by collectors. This is an attractive example graded POOR 1 by SGC due to postal use and overall wear, including some creasing that runs from top to bottom across the card. Still, the image of Weaver greeting a row of ladies makes this a tremendous card; the player's place in baseball history yet to unfold. Still in his 20s at the time of issue, Weaver's stats were on an upward climb with slight improvements each season. Unfortunately we will never know whether that trajectory would have eventually produced a Hall of Fame shortstop.
