Johnny Bench was one of the big names in the 1970 Topps set, held back until the Seventh Series and driving many a kid nuts looking for any sign of him throughout the spring and summer. The wait was worth it though, as this classic pose shows. Cincinnati made the World Series four times during his career and Bench was an integral member of the fabled Big Red Machine, netting two rings. This was no surprise to collectors in 1970, who already sensed he was Cooperstown bound. The upper left corner is seemingly the biggest holdback on the grade and the card features a fabulous image and strong borders otherwise. The reverse has some foxing and a little toning.
