New York Yankees superstar centerfielder Joe DiMaggio stands ready to strike in this gorgeous original press photo from the 1930’s. Young DiMaggio would appear in four consecutive World Series championships at the end of the decade, with his Yankees first defeating the New York Giants in 1936 and 1937, then the Chicago Cubs in 1938 and 1939. Photo surface remains smooth and bright and appears to be in magnificent overall condition, though "Joe DiMaggio" appears in ballpoint within the bottom border. Paper remnants remain affixed to all four corners of verso and large Cosmo-Sileo stamping appears at center, identifying them as the issuing service. A few pencil notations appear at the top. Measures 8” x 10”. Encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
