All-time great and Yankees Hall of Famer, Lou Gehrig takes a mighty hack in this original news service photo from International. Gehrig is sporting the ubiquitous Yankees away uniform worn by the team throughout the decade while batting in a 1939 exhibition game against the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbetts Field. Both Gehrig and the catcher are in sharp focus and framed nicely by the white top and bottom borders. Two 1/4" tears are present within the bottom border and light creasing is evident in the top and bottom right corners. Otherwise, the photo surface is beautiful with virtually no visible imperfections. Verso exhibits very minor toning with remnants of a paper caption present, along with large International News stamping. Measures 7" x 8.75" Encapsulated by PSA/DNA as a Type 1 photo.
