Beautiful 1958 Kansas City Athletics home flannel jersey worn by outfielder Bill Tuttle.  Tuttle was the author of an 11-year major league career spent with Detroit, Kansas City and Minnesota, amassing a .259 lifetime batting average.  A regular outfielder for the 1958 Athletics, he batted .231 with 11 home runs in what was his first season with the team.  The following year, Tuttle batted .300 and came in 23rd in the MVP voting.  Well-known for a giant chaw of tobacco in his cheek, Tuttle was diagnosed with oral cancer and used the last five years of his life to raise awareness of the dangers of chewing tobacco.

This attractive Wilson size 44 jersey features Tuttle's number 13 on the reverse and also stitched above the tag on the jersey tail.  The original lettering and numbering is still intact, with a team logo stitched onto the left sleeve.  The jersey shows signs of heavy use, MEARS deducting a half point in the grade for light staining, resulting in a final grade of A9.5.  Full LOA from MEARS, an outstanding 1950s flannel.
