An incredible artifact from the Deadball Era, this oversize cabinet photo from General Photo Co. features the 1908 St. Louis Browns in full cold weather regalia. General Photo Co. used this very image for both their printed and real photo issued postcards well known to collectors (and both postcard versions may be found elsewhere in this auction). Hall of Famer Rube Waddell stands in the top row, third from the left, while fellow hall of famer Bobby Wallace is seated first on the left in the front row. This truly is a stunning team shot and the photo itself has remained in exemplary condition, well protected by the heavy mount. Edges of mount display signs of chipping and verso exhibits staining throughout which does not appear to impact front of the piece. General Photo Co. stamping appears on verso at the very center. Overall dimensions of 13.5" x 16” with the photo measuring approx. 11" x 13.5”. One of several pieces in this auction emenating directly from the estate of former St. Louis Browns pitcher, Barney Pelty where they have remained until the time of this sale.
