Outfielders Gavvy Cravath and Tris Speaker greet each other prior to Game 1 of the 1915 World Series. Cravath led the league in an astounding nine categories that season, including hits (179), home runs (19), and RBI's (128). In his final season with Boston, Speaker, a member of the Hall's second induction class in 1937, helped guide the Red Sox to their second World Series championship before heading to Cleveland for 1916. While this photograph does suffer from heavy chipping to the thick white borders, the central image remains largely untouched aside from a few crop lines in pencil and some minor editing work. Wonderful period details remain throughout, including grimy uniforms, bats ready by the dugout, and Speaker's well-worn glove. Light smudging is present on verso along with several handwritten notations and Underwood's large, blue stamping. Measures 8" x 10". Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
