Two icons of sport converge in this 1910's original press photo from photographer Charles Conlon. Conlon has captured superstar Native American athlete Jim Thorpe during his time with the New York Giants as he stands on a base, gloved hand resting on his knee. A large, striking visage of Thorpe in full-uniform, this example measures approx. 7.5" x 9.5" with chipping present to both top corners. Verso of photo includes a Brown Brothers paper tag and no fewer than four different brown brothers stamps along with Charles Conlon's own handwritten notations. Encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
