Beautiful Underwood & Underwood Type 1 photo taken during the 1915 World Series. Red Sox catcher Bill Carrigan awaits an incoming throw as Phillies catcher Ed Burns crosses the plate. The handwritten notation on verso allows us to conclusively date this photo to Game 3 of the Series in Boston with Burns scoring in the top of the 3rd inning on a Dave Bancroft single to center. Boston would then go on to score two runs and win the game 2-1 (they would eventually win the Series in five). The home plate umpire pictured is Silk O'Loughlin.
